Job description – Process Engineer

Scope: Working independently as a Process Engineer but functionally reporting to the Head of Facilities, the successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of Process Engineering activities. Working in Oil and Gas, this individual will work closely with other technical discipline personnel on an integrated project team. As well, the successful candidate must be comfortable being on the front lines interfacing with others while maintaining the best interest of the company.

Role and Responsibilities:

Preparing process design deliverables, such as:

  • Process Simulations
  • Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s) and Heat & Material Balances
  • Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID’s) Line & Equipment Sizing Calculations –pipelines, pipes and vessels
  • Process Duty Specifications for Instrument & Equipment Data Sheets Process Studies and Recommendations of Path Forward
  • May assume a lead role on simple to moderately complex projects
  • Supervising and providing technical guidance to more junior Process Engineers assigned to work on a common project; assigning work, and reviewing work for technical accuracy and adequacy
  • May be required to visit construction & fabrication sites on occasion
  • Project drawings such as PFD’s P&ID’s, plus coordination and interface with other disciplines
  • Required to complete equipment selection and sizing, hydraulics and pump calculation, PSV sizing
  • Responsible for coordination with operations and facilities engineering department
  • Conducts field visits
  • Understands conceptual and FEED
  • Capable of running simulation software
  • Directs work flow either by delegation or completion on own
  • Responsible for quality assurance, quality control –as well as ensuring project specifications have been followed to the buildposition and have effective working relations will all team members
  • Responsible for checking of drawings/sketches for accuracy and completeness
  • Capable of working independently, with minimal supervision, to successfully complete assigned objectives
  • Will be required to integrate across all levels of the organization and with all variety of field workers;
  • Able to develop equipment data sheet; review vendor drawings

Requirements – Process Engineer

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Process or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent, have membership of a professional institute
    10 to 15 years relevant industry experience.
  • Experienced in risk analysis, PHA/HAZOP/HAZIP review
  • Expertise in the following processes: separation, oil treating, dehydration, refrigeration, amine systems, deep-cut processes, flare and utility systems
  • Proficient in simulation software e.g. HYSYS, PROMAX, pipe hydraulics
  • Working knowledge of regulatory standards
  • Sound problem solving and decision making skills
  • Strong organizational, documentation and report writing skills
  • Ability to orchestrate multiple tasks within given timeframes; and experience in South South Nigeria
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong or advanced communication skills (both verbal and written).
